How Many Of These Kid’s Toys Did You Have As A Kid?
Some kid’s toys stand the test of time while others slip away forever to be forgotten. We each had our favorite toys growing up. Mine was a yo yo. My friends and I used to play with our yo yo often. You could spend hours upon hours totally focused on getting that thing to do the latest trick. Do you remember the trick called walk the dog?
Did you own a slinky when you were a kid? I wonder how many of those springy things were sold. I am willing to make a bet that it was in the millions. Some creating person invented this long spring like metal toy that was capable of stepping down a set of steps all by itself. Would you ever have thought that something so ridiculously simple would have become so incredibly popular? I am sure he got rich off of that idea.
The Nintendo video game is revitalizing the popularity of the hula hoop. Can you remember the last time you saw someone playing with a real one? I am sure it was quite a while ago. These hoops could probably keep you in shape if you got hooked on using one. It’s weird how the simple toys were the ones that really caught on big.
Remember the GI Joe doll from when you were a youngster? I guess the original ones are worth quite a bit of money online. There are probably a ton of objects we had as children that sell for a reasonably high price on the auction sites these days.
When I was a kid, I remember everyone having a Lionel Train set around their Christmas tree. There were huge numbers of train fanatics. I knew a guy who had an entire village setup in his basement so he could work on the railroad throughout the whole year. I never could quite understand what it was about trains that made them so popular.
What about those electronic football games that vibrated? Do you know the ones I mean? They had the little football players that you would setup on the board. Then you hit a switch and it vibrated. The vibrations made the football players move around the field. Man that thing was pretty corny. Man it was fun though.
Who didn’t own an Etch A Sketch? I think those things are still in style. We were all little artists. If you screwed a drawing up you just shook it and started again.
Were you one of those kids who had some Lone Ranger things? Lone Ranger dolls were really popular. Do you remember watching the Lone Ranger shows on your old TV?
