So you want to start a consulting business? Imagine having someone looking at your website and having their credit card in hand ready to buy from you. However, what you cannot see is the fact that the person that is ready to buy from you is about to be distracted by something going on away from their computer.
Obviously that client is going to make a dive to save the tree and for you, that means you have just lost that client unless you have an autoresponder set up on your website to get her email address. If you do, that potential client will receive your follow-up emails and will eventually go ahead and sign up for your services after seeing to her bonsai.
Autoresponders are a must have program when starting a consulting business and they do not just help with your email. Here are some strategies that you can use to set up autoresponders to help you make money on the internet by providing informative newsletters and articles to your potential clients.
1. Start a newsletter With a good autoresponder program you can create a newsletter that follows up with prospective clients. The newsletter can provide more information about your products and services and also be used as a vehicle to demonstrate your expertise in the area that you provide consulting in.
2. Promote a newsletter for affiliates As a consulting business owner with affiliates, a newsletter allows you to keep them up to date as to the latest news and events that is going on with your products and services. This information will help them to be able to maximize their commission and promote your consulting business more effectively.
3. Share your articles Another powerful strategy when starting consulting business is to distribute articles in your area of expertise to build your reputation, drive traffic to your website and make more sales.
With articles written about a topic that you are an expert in and providing value to the reader, you will have other websites that will want to promote your articles including your resource box. Your resource box should contain a brief description of your background and what you have to offer. It should also include the email address to your autoresponder.
Suppose you wrote 50 articles. You can take those articles and add them to your autoresponder, including a list of the titles of your articles, the autoresponder email address and a part of the article. You then promote the list of articles. Finally you want to have guidelines for publishing articles to make it easier for your affiliates to promote for you.
Utilizing these 3 strategies can help you to be able to leverage autoresponders to build your consulting business. It is a great resource for anyone who is looking to engage in starting consulting business.

Autoresponders can be used as a great tool to sell information online. A properly utilized autoresponder is one of the best forms of leverage for anyone looking to make money on the internet.
1. Autoresponders put your sales process on autopilot. An autoresponder allows you to do repeated exposure of your marketing message, which has been known to increase sales. You want to make sure you include your autoresponder address where they can subscribe to and receive a number of marketing messages. This dramatically increases the chances of the visitors becoming customers. As an example, if you are selling a product, you can add testimonials and a product description.
2. Distribute advertising. If you sell advertising as part of how you sell information online, autoresponders can help as well. You can set up your autoresponder to send out ad rates and instructions on how to place an ad. You can also have your autoresponder follow-up for you. You can also promote any special deals or offers that you have.
3. Send out an email course. Your autoresponder can also be used to send out lessons. You want to make sure that you provide good content, not attempts to sell. Providing good content is the best sales pitch you can create. An email course can provide tips around various topics regarding what you have to offer and show how they can benefit from it. Make sure you provide the benefits your product provides for the buyers. Finally, there should also be a part of your email course where you attempt to get your prospect to buy from you.
4. Give out free trials. You can use an autoresponder to give out free trials of your any product if you sell information online. Free trials are often the best way to get a prospect on the fence to buy. Free trials are also a great way to get someone to give you their email address. You should include in your autoresponder instructions on how to access the trial and follow-up and close those prospects as well.
5. Automate reminder emails. Another way to use autoresponders is to use them as a reminder to your prospects of what you have to offer. What this does is increase the conversion rate of people who visit your website and actually purchase what you have to offer. These reminder emails can also be used to promote additional products or services that you have to offer as well as affiliate programs.
These five strategies are great ways to implement the power of an autoresponder. By utilizing them, you will be able to sell information online more effectively.

Online marketers are using autoresponders and finding they are critical components to running a successful online company. One of the “granddaddies” of these is Aweber. We’ve used it for years and find mostly positives (a couple points of contention) and submit this review for those trying to make a decision on which service to use.
It’s quick to get started. It doesn’t cost much per month for such a valuable service. It works pretty seamlessly. Autoresponders, as you likely know, capture information from the visitors who find your site and like what they see enough to sign up for your freebies and ezines. The visitors complete a form or even a survey, and this info they give to you gets forwarded to you while they get to collect on your free offering.
First: Your forms should be easy to complete and rather short. Simple and well-designed are best. A form’s look alone can get a new prospect. Make it look shoddy and guests are left to wonder what else about your business is lacking?
Tip #2: Your sign-ups will expect your messages so make sure you have them written and ready to send. The auto-responder will send them automatically however frequently you choose, so this makes it a little gem of a service and one you need to put to use.
A note about how often to send messages to your new prospects: Don’t send messages to them daily or you’ll get a lot of unsubscribes (who likes a pest?). Unsubscribes are those prospects who decide they don’t want to receive your messages any more and they opt-out of receiving any additional messages.
We generally like Aweber. It has worked well for us in particular. There are other services out there (and some that offer some pretty cool little forms like stickey notes, etc. that we haven’t seen yet with Aweber). Our main complaint is that it takes forever to load new messages, even on our high speed computer. It’s something that is a turn-off, but we don’t do it that often so it’s easy to overlook. We’d really like to see this issue addressed as well as some new interesting form choices.
Basically, it’s a decent, well-performing service and one we can recommend. Do you own homework and make the choice that is right for you. Aweber is but one choice, and for our money, it’s the one that works for us.

Creating A Funnel System
As with all other traffic programs involving mass mailing or displaying ads, there’s absolutely no effectiveness in selling something straight away unless 1) you can target a very specific market, and 2) there is a cause for urgency.
You will always do better giving out freebies in exchange of the recipients’ e-mail addresses through a lead-capture page. What you must continually practice is to create a funnel system like this:
traffic programs to lead capture to autoresponder list
so that you are able to qualify interested people into loyal subscribers and buyers. Why? It is always better to mail several times to the same folks who are willing to give you a more positive response than to randomly mail what most others wouldn’t care.
Think of a game plan of what you can best do to create such a funnel system.
