Creating Your Own Blog

Blogging is taking over the internet. It is fun and gives you the freedom to write on whatever you want. You can write about current happenings, family times, or just about what you are thinking and feeling.

It has become a popular way to keep in touch with family and friends from afar. They can just hop on your blog and hear about Timmy’s first words or see pictures of Marys High School prom. It is a fun way to keep in touch, however there are some things that people need to be aware of.

The first thing you need to be aware of is that if you are posting pictures or information about your family, you want to make sure your blog is password protected. If it is not, anyone can get into your blog and know all you family and personal information. This is partially bad in today’s day in age when there is so much attention being placed on protecting our children from pedophiles.

Adults consume a large portion of there time teaching and reminding teens about internet safety, yet it is something that we, ourselves, understand little about. It is important that if you have a blog with any sort of personal information, it can only be accessed by those you invite or intend to see the information.

Public blogging about topics that are relevant obviously can be out there for the whole world to see, and that is what they are intended for. Whether informational, or rants, you can put whatever you want on the web.

You want to be sure that your information makes sense, and most importantly that you do not put your children at risk. The Internet is accessible to all, therefore you do not want to put specific information about your family in a blog that everyone can see. That is just a means of asking for trouble if you do!
