Helpful Dog Training Tips


Every body dreams of a pet especially dogs. But the fear of them misbehaving takes the courage out of you to actually go and get a pet for yourself. Think about Dog training! Dog training is one tedious and time consuming job but the results are far from a verbal experience.

A dog can easily catch up with a ‘No’ command. You can use it to stop him from a dangerous situation or bad behavior. It is a good training technique that is sure to consistently come to your aid while nursing a dog.

I am sure you all love your pets. However it is advisable not to spoil them. It is all right to punish them for their wrongdoings. It is an essential part of training your dog. It keeps them in check and puts off the bad behavior. You have an option between positive and negative punishment. A light tug on the leash or a verbal scolding amounts to positive punishment. Alternatively, negative punishment includes taking away things that your dog needs and the likes. Positive punishments should be used in moderation, as they are considered unhealthy for your dog. It is better that you go for negative punishment while training your pet.

Give your little puppies rewards for behaving in a particular manner. You can award them with homemade recipes. These recipes are easily available on the Internet. You can also think of presenting commercial good like chew toys. If your dog does not prefer chew toys then gift him a tug toy. He will surely like it. Try and involve yourself in playing fetch game with him. Fetch game is very simple. Take a stick. Whenever your dog looks at it, throw it as far as you can. Then point him in the direction of the stick and ask him to bring it back. You can try this game with a Frisbee, ball, or even a simple stick works well. Every dog loves this game and is sure to enjoy it. Fetch game helps in inducing enthusiasm in your dog and gets you a better command on him.

It is very surprising to see the kind of commitment and duration of time a new puppy can demand. While you provide him with time and attention, a lot of work goes into his training. But your dog is surely worth the effort. No one can match the companionship your dog provides you. He leaves you with a senses of accomplishment and pride.
