Maximizing Coupons at the Grocery Store

It might not always be easy to find the grocery coupons that you need, but if you go about it the right way, you can save loads on your grocery bill. Being organized, and knowing where to find the coupons, is the key to saving. Here are a few tips to get you started.

A key to saving money when using coupons is to have several copies of the coupons that you know you are going to use. Some coupons are good for only one item, so if you have a coupon for a can of soup and you know you’re going to buy 5 cans of soup, that coupon can only be used for one of them. In order to get the most savings, you’ll need 5 of that coupon-one for every can of soup you purchase!

Check your local Sunday paper for the coupon inserts, as well as your circulars that come throughout the week. Clip the coupons that you will need from them. If you get your paper and you don’t have any inserts, give your paper a call because part of the fee that you paid for the paper included the inserts.

If you need extra coupons and you find them in the paper, consider buying an extra copy. However, weigh the expense of the extra copy of the paper versus the savings that you will get for the coupons.

Consider starting a coupon collection box at your office or school. This is a good way to recycle coupons that you don’t have a use for. Make sure someone goes through the coupons periodically to take out the ones that have expired.

Try sharing coupons with friends. They might have coupons that you need, and you might have something of use to them. This is another good way to recycle those coupons that you don’t have a use for.

Print off the coupons that you need online. This is also a good way to get multiple copies of needed coupons. There are many websites that allow shoppers to search for coupons by zip code.

When you enter a restaurant, hotel, or airport, check in the entryway, where free papers are usually stocked. You might be surprised at the coupons that are available in these free papers and you can generally take as many as you want.

Once you have collected your coupons, organize them and compare them to your shopping list in order to get the most of out your savings. Take only the ones that you will need for that particular trip to the store.

Last but not least, make sure that you watch for double coupon days at your local stores. They’re generally advertised in the newspaper. You will get the most out of your coupons on these days. You might even get products for virtually no money at all.

Online Printable Coupons Equal Great Savings at the Grocery Store

If you haven’t thought about using the Internet to find coupons for your local grocery store, then you should. Thanks to today’s technology, you no longer have to wait for your newspaper or circular to come to your mailbox to find the coupons. With just a few clicks of your mouse, you can be printing big savings in no time at all.

Although it takes a little bit of work, customers no longer have to go through bunches of papers to sort out the coupons that they may or may not use. With the online printable coupons, shoppers can easily search for coupons that they need and print them out in a matter of minutes.

As a guideline, there are some things to remember when using online printable coupon sites, however. To begin with, always use a reputable site. This lessons the likelihood of being turned down at the cash register when you go to checkout. Websites such as www.coolsavings.com www.smartsource.com and www.wow-coupons.com are all reputable and worth checking out. Not only do they offer hundreds of coupons on grocery items, but they also offer searchable databases for your zip code.

On some websites, you can even enter your email address and have the coupons you want most delivered directly to your “in box.” Then, it’s just a matter of printing!

However, keep in mind that most coupons have expiration dates. It’s a good idea to check the dates before you use them. You don’t want to get to the store, only to find that they are not valid. It’s probably a good idea to check the expiration dates before you print them off as well.

You also want to make sure that you know the rules when using coupons at major chains. You can generally find these on the stores’ websites. If you use electronic coupons from Wal-Mart, remember that they should have a scanable barcode, an expiration date, an address to remit, cannot be a photocopy, and you are limited to one per customer.

There are also stores, Kroger for example, that will email you coupons. You just have to go to their website and enter your customer loyalty information first. By doing this, you are guaranteed to get coupons for the stores that you shop at the most often.

In general, it’s a good idea when printing coupons off the Internet to keep the entire page and not to cut around the coupon. It might help you at the store if the website address is visible on the sheet. This helps you prove the legitimacy of your coupon.

Staying organized when it comes to your coupons is always helpful. Consider buying an inexpensive coupon organizer, or even using an envelope, so that your coupons are handy when it’s time to checkout.

A great benefit to using the online printable coupons is that you can search for the items that you generally buy and print out the coupons for them, which makes using coupons a little user-friendlier. It can save you time, as well as money when you use them, and that’s always a plus when grocery shopping!
