A Positive Approach To Excessive Sweating
Karl Jung famously said What you resist, persists. You might not have heard of or know much about the Law of Attraction, but this basic statement demonstrates one of the Laws key principles, whatever you think about you attract. And when this is something you really don’t want, you tend to think about it even more and with real feeling – which means you attract more of it, more quickly.
If this applies to everything in life, it’s certainly true for the problem of hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. If this problem affects you, how much time do you spend thinking about it, and how much feeling (worry, stress, anxiety) is behind that thought? And the more you get stressed, the more you sweat?
You become so conscious of your sweating that it is all you can think about, and you’re thinking about it with such intensity that, according to the Law of Attraction, its inevitable that you will sweat more.
Think about it, even when you’re not sweating, if you are going to work in an office all day, or are on your way out for a date, you probably have in your mind the worry that you will start sweating even though it hasn’t actually happened yet.
So what does this worrying about sweating do? It keeps the problem in your mind and attaches a really strong emotion to it so in the end, you start to sweat.
If you can take on board what the Law of Attractions says, that worrying about a problem can make it worse, the Law can also help you beat your excessive sweating. Thinking more positively will bring the Law onto your side and help you cure your problem.
If you want to be dry, sweat-free and confident at work, then start thinking about this. Close your eyes and see yourself at work, leaning back in your chair and raising your hands behind your head, confident there’s no perspiration showing on your blouse or shirt. Visualise yourself on an amazing date and being able to get really close to them without worrying if your underarms are dry.
If you’ve ever heard of or used affirmations, these are a big part of using the Law to your benefit. By affirming, saying out loud or in your head, what you want the positive outcome to be, the Law will take notice and bring this outcome to you.
Positive affirmations should always be in the present tense. For example, you could try affirming every morning before you leave the house “I am confident and comfortable and my underarms are dry and fresh all day”.
Whether you know about and understand the Law of Attraction or not, you should believe in the power of positive affirmations. If you trust them and put your thought and feeling behind them, you might see a dramatic improvement in your problem. What harm can it do to try?

Excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis, can rule the lives of some of the millions of people it affects across the world. If you’re one of those people, it can dictate what you do, where you go, even which clothes you wear.
Nowhere else is this more of a problem than when you are at work. No matter what your job, suffering from excessive sweating in the workplace can cause even higher levels of stress and leave you feeling uncomfortable and embarrassed about your problem.
No matter what you’re doing, working in an office in a thin shirt or down in the warehouse in some overalls, if you start to worry about your excessive sweating, the chances are it’s going to happen at some point during the day.
And if you do start to sweat, you start to get stressed, and that makes the sweating even worse!
If you’re more worried about your sweating problem, it makes it hard to focus on what you should be doing. It can be even harder for you to be comfortable working closer to others who might notice your problem. If you suffer from excessive sweating, this might sound like every day you go to work.
Do any of these sound like the kind of thing you’ve tried just to get through work?
- wearing t-shirts under your shirt or overalls
- sneaking off to the washroom to dry your sweat patches with the dryer
- putting a coat or a jumper on in the office, even though it’s the middle of summer
- keeping a spare set of work clothes to change into
- re-applying your deoderant during the day
But these just mask the issue and dont stop you worrying about it, so whilst your colleagues might not notice your excessive sweating, how much time are you spending hiding it from them that you could be spending being more effective at your job?
Worrying about your excessive sweating can leave you short of time to do anything else in the day and you probably hadn’t even noticed the effect it was having.
The International Hyperhidrosis Society carried out a recent survey and found that job-related issues such as going to an interview or confronting a boss made 62% of those surveyed sweat more than any other circumstance.
The IHHS also found that people who were affected by hyperhidrosis in the workplace were limited to carrying out physical duties 25% of the time. They were also limited 20% of the time in carrying out mental and interpersonal tasks, 17% of the time in time-management and 11% of the time for overal work output.
Excessive sweating not only affects how you feel at work, but also how you are perfoming at work, and this probably hasn’t ever occured to you.
Excessive sweating is not recognised on the same level as other ailments that impact on work, but the IHHS went on to say that it can cause similar workplace performance limitations to those experienced by sufferers of depression, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
You could always turn the air-conditioning up or try and avoid any manual labour, or try any number of methods to cover up the problem. But wouldn’t it be great to go to work confident in the knowledge that you didn’t have a problem, because it had been cured, naturally and permanently?

Don’t Let Excessive Sweating Take Over Your Life
Everybody sweats, you just do – it’s natural. But if you’re one of the millions of people in the world who suffer from excessive sweating, it can be something that takes over your life.
Places you go, what you do, what you eat and how you dress – if you are constantly worrying about if or how much you might sweat it can completely take the fun out of a night out, and make your work day a total nightmare.
If this sounds like you you’ve probably tried all sorts of little tricks and remedies to either reduce or hide your excessive sweating – and with mixed results. All you really want is a safe, simple and preferably natural way to solve your problem.
Why does excessive sweating affect some people and not others?
Information on why you sweat more than other people is probably not as useful as information on how to stop, but understanding why you sweat might help when discussing possible cures.
The scientific name for excessive sweating is Hyperhidrosis. It’s totally natural to sweat and we all do it, it’s how the body stops you over-heating – as the sweat evaporates it cools the skin. If you’ve been exercising or it’s a hot day you sweat to try and cool yourself down. You might also sweat when you’re under pressure, nervous or anxious, as sweating is linked to the nervous system.
Hyperhydrosis however, is unusually increased perspiration and whilst it is usual throughout your teenage years, it can affect anyone at any point in their life.
Doctors believe that you suffer from hyperhidrosis due to an overactive nervous system. What can make it worse for a lot of people is that it can seem totally unrelated to how hot you feel. A common complaint of sufferers is that they get nervous because they sweat, then sweat more because they are nervous.
Understanding how you are affected by excessive sweating can help you deal with the problem, or even better find a cure that works for you.
Do you just live with it? There are a number of things you can help reduce excessive sweating and it’s associated problems, or at least make it easier to live with:
-Try not to wear man-made fibres and wear colours like black and white that hide the stain better
-Always shower in the morning and after any exercise
-Avoid spicy foods, caffeine in tea, coffee, soft drinks and, sorry, chocolate
-Apply your anti-perspirant a number of times during the day rather than just once
-There are high-stregth anti-perspirants available that might offer increased protection
Other solutions are available to help stop or hide the problem of excessive sweating but you might not fancy surgery or “arm-pit shields”. Anyway, all we’re really talking about here is making Hyperhidrosis easier to live with, a better alternative would be to find a natural and permanent cure.
